Hurricane Warning: New Orleans to Lake Pontchartrain and Grand Island, Louisiana, to Mobile, Alabama-Florida Border • FRI OCT 06, 2017 7:33 PM CT








Tropical Storm Nate is slowly gaining strength in the southwest Caribbean Sea as it moves toward the U.S. Gulf Coast. Nate may bring strong winds and heavy rain into the Gulf Coast this weekend. Heavy rain and local flooding is also possible in the central and southern Plains. For the latest information on Nate, including watches and warnings, please refer to the National Hurricane Center. Tropical Storm Nate is expected to strengthen to a hurricane and make landfall about midnight Saturday, October 7, 2017 east of New Orleans. Hurricane Nate would be the third hurricane, following Harvey and Irma, to hit the US mainland in six weeks. New Orleans was devastated by Hurricane Katrina 12 years ago in late August 2005.
