Rescues and Evacuations After Heavy Rains Cause Flooding in San Jose, California • TUE FEB 21, 2017 10:02 PM CT









Five people have been rescued after rising waters of the Coyote Creek flooded a homeless encampment in San Jose Tuesday morning.

It was a full-scale water rescue by the San Jose Urban Rescue Task Force after reports of possibly 20 people stranded in Coyote Creek.

Those being rescued in San Jose now have another concern.

“They are being decontaminated because this is polluted water,” Low says. “It could be sewage, it could be gasoline and motor oil  from cars that are now underwater.”
